Automotive key service information for Dallas–Fort Worth drivers.
Blue Key offers limited automotive key services, and availability depends on your vehicle and key type. Gather the year, make, model, location, and any working key before you call so we can confirm whether we can help.
Know what kind of key you have
Basic mechanical key: a metal key without an electronic chip.
Transponder key: a key with a chip that communicates with the vehicle.
Remote-head key: a traditional key combined with remote buttons.
Key fob: a remote device used for lock, alarm or start functions.
Push-to-start smart key: a proximity fob that may require vehicle-specific programming.
Have the vehicle details ready
Before anyone can explain the options, they need the year, make, model, key type and the vehicle’s current location.
It also helps to know whether you still have a working key and whether the vehicle is accessible for any needed cutting or programming.
Start with the details
A basic duplicate, a replacement remote and a lost smart key can involve very different processes, timing and costs. Those details help us confirm whether the work is within our limited automotive service.
Make a spare before all keys are lost
Creating a spare while the original still works is usually simpler than starting after all keys are lost.
Keep the spare somewhere separate from the daily key so it can actually help when the unexpected happens.
If you have no working key
When no working key remains, the vehicle may need decoding, a new key or fob may need to be generated and programming can be required. Have proof of ownership ready before arranging the work.
