A fresh start
Lock Rekeying in Dallas-Fort Worth
Moved in, lost a key, or had a tenant change? We rekey your existing locks so old copies stop working. We’ll check which doors can share one key and whether any worn hardware needs attention.
Old Keys No Longer Work
After a move, turnover, or lost key, new keys give you a clean start. Copies of the old key won't open the rekeyed locks.
One Key for Compatible Doors
If the cylinders use compatible keyways, we can set several doors to work with one key instead of a whole ring of them.
Keep Your Existing Hardware
When the existing hardware is in good shape, you don't need to buy new locks just to change who has a key.
Optional Security Pin Upgrade
During a regular rekey, we can upgrade the pins in compatible pin-and-tumbler cylinders for added resistance to picking and bumping. Ask about the option when we quote the work.

How We Rekey Your Locks
Who else might have a key?
After a move, you rarely know how many copies the previous owner handed out. The same goes for a former tenant, contractor, employee, or a key that never turned up.
For a rental or office, decide who gets the new keys before the visit. Otherwise it’s easy to lose track of copies all over again.
What changes inside the lock
We change a compatible cylinder to work with a new key. On a traditional pin-and-tumbler lock, that means changing the pins. Old copies stop working; the outer hardware stays in place.
If you have to push the door to lock it, that’s a separate problem. Rekeying won’t straighten a door or fix a failing latch.
Want one key for several doors?
Front, back, and garage-entry locks can often share a key when they have compatible keyways. That’s easier than sorting through three similar keys at the door.
Different brands don’t always use the same keyway. We’ll tell you which locks can be matched and whether a cylinder swap makes sense for the others.
When a new lock makes more sense
If the lock is badly worn, damaged, or wrong for the door, fresh pins won’t make it dependable. We’ll explain the repair or replacement options before doing extra work.
Add security pins during a rekey
During a regular rekey, we can upgrade the pins in compatible pin-and-tumbler cylinders for added resistance to picking and bumping. This does not prevent someone from copying a key. If key-copy control is your concern, ask us which hardware options fit your doors.

Before you book
Before You Rekey Your Locks
When should I rekey my house?
After a move, a lost key, or a tenant or employee change. If you're unsure who still has a copy, a rekey gives you new keys even when the lock itself works fine.
Can all locks be rekeyed?
Most standard residential locks can be rekeyed. If a lock isn’t compatible or is too worn to rekey reliably, we’ll let you know before replacing anything.
What is the optional security pin upgrade?
A standard rekey changes which key opens the lock. During that same job, we can add upgraded security pins to compatible pin-and-tumbler cylinders for extra resistance to picking and bumping. This optional upgrade does not prevent someone from copying the new key.
How many locks are included in the starting price?
Our standard rekey starts at $125 and includes the service visit and up to five standard exterior locks. Additional locks, repairs, and optional security pin upgrades are quoted separately.
Can compatible locks be keyed alike?
Yes, compatible locks can often be set to work with one key. We’ll check your locks and explain which can be matched and whether any need a different cylinder.
